Day 40: Friday, May 5

Sites Visited: Etz Hayyim Synagogue and Chania Archaeological Museum

Leaders: Barg and Vic

Feliz Cinco de Mayo!!!

Greetings from Chania, Crete. Today we got a late start and got to sleep in at what has to be the nicest hotel yet. The beds were 10/10 plush. Then we went to the Etz Hayyim Synagogue and learned about the history of Jews in Greece, and in particular, Crete. It was cool to see such a historical building still in use, even though there are only 10 Jews in Chania.

We then went to the Chania Archaeological Museum and explored the cool artifacts there. My (Max B.) favorite thing was a Minoan children’s toy cow on wheels. We were then given a homework assignment: eat something you’ve never eaten before. I, and some other students, ate snails. Not bad!

Some of us ended the day learning some simple Cretan line dancing steps with our main man Tim Shea.

Such a good day!

Peace & Love,

MB & VC & everyone else
